Maker Moms Promo Shoot

So, Sunday might have just been the best day ever. I mean, barring the usual wedding and birth related days. I spent it in the company of my new cohort of colleagues on the set of a promo shoot for our Maker Moms channels. Aren’t they gorgeous?

I went down to Southern California on Friday so I could go to a party sponsored by my friends at SoftCup. It was a pre-emmy party with spa treatments that I was too busy chatting with my new friend Rachel to really take advantage of, but since it was at the home of Adrienne Maloof, I got tons of great gawking in. That place was AMAZING.

Then after a day spent running errands and taking advantage of babysitting Grandma, I got to spend Sunday on an honest to goodness film set. Maker Studios is the production company that supports my youtube channel, and they had as many of us as were available get together for a commercial shoot. I spent the day eating, chatting, sitting around, getting my picture taken, sweating my face off, and laughing laughing laughing. Oh my gosh these women are amazing.

One of my new colleagues? Kandee Johnson. Who I have loved from afar for ages and talked about here. In person she is exactly who you see on youtube. She is a for real youtube celebrity, but you wouldn’t know it to talk to her. She with her hundreds of thousands of fans treated me like a peer.

Part of what made these women so awesome? They get me and my plugged in world. No one thought we were crazy or rude when we chatted with one eye on our phones, tweeting our hearts out to spread the word. Modesto isn’t exactly the most tech savvy of places, which is usually part of its charm, but when I can get in a crowd of people and talk shop? I’m in heaven.

A million years ago I walked away from dreams of being an actress, but Sunday I felt like that dream was coming true. So maybe I was wearing a crazy gray wig and hamming it up for my youtube channel, but the point is that I get to be creative and express that part of me in a way I couldn’t even imagine when I was 20. It felt like one of those beautiful, rare, full-circle moments when you get what you wanted most but didn’t even know it.
