Olay Hair Removal Duo and Giveaway

Oh you guys. This is how committed I am to Project Put Together. I am actually posting photos of my hairy mustache on the internet.

Shame? What’s that? I seem to be out of it. It’s a sad little secret I don’t talk about to my friends, but it’s true. My name is Tresa, and I have a mustache. I am very fair skinned, with very dark hair, so any trace amount of peach fuzz would show up, but since I am also rather, um, hirsute? Well, this has been a problem I’ve been addressing since I was 15 years old.

In all those years I have tried every single thing on the market. I have used Nair, bleaches, waxes, and even, yes, a fine grade of sandpaper that swore it removed hair and exfoliated at the same time. I could be wrong, but I don’t think that you’re supposed to bleed when you’re exfoliating.

After all that trial and error, I settled into regularly using a wax, and the older I get, the more of that wax I need to use. Of course, the problem with waxing is that it hurts like a son of a gun, and with my fair skin, my hairy mustache is just traded for a swollen, red mustache for the rest of the day.

Waxing gets the job done, but I have to plan ahead and do it when I know I won’t be seen for a few hours. But even though I don’t love it, it was the best option I had.

If you think waxing leaves me swollen and red, you should have seen me when I tried to use a chemical hair remover. I couldn’t even stand the burning long enough to let it do it’s job, and then I was left both swollen and red and still hairy.

BlogHer and Olay asked me to try the New Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo, so I let my grooming go for a couple of weeks (yes, that’s just after a couple of weeks, like I said, this is a problem) and gave it a try.

What really sets this product apart, to me, is the Skin Guarding Balm. It comes in a tube like a lip gloss, and you just rub it over the area to protect your skin. It was amazing. When I put on the Hair Removal Cream (which came in a tube like Blistex so was really easy to apply cleanly) I couldn’t feel a thing. No burning, no chemical smells, I just went and checked my email and actually forgot it was on until I looked at the clock.

Here’s how I looked IMMEDIATELY after removing the cream. And I mean immediately. I literally had my camera in one hand and a cotton ball in the other. No redness, no swelling, and the only hair left behind was from spots I missed because I was so scarred by past experiences I was nervous to apply the cream all over.

I shouldn’t have been. I will absolutely be using this again. It will be so lovely to spare myself some pain and not have to plan my day around when I can go afford to go into hiding until the redness goes away.

  8. Using Bert’s Bees shampoo, conditioner, and lip balm helps bring out my inner beauty. They smell great, make my hair and lips shine, and make me feel wonderful about myself (plus they’re natural, a true win/win)!

  9. Dying my hair, and a cleaning/conditioning routine for my face. And shaving my legs! LOL!! I too am sick of the pain of waxing my upper lip and just last night tried a cream hair remover, (not Olay's). It didn't work very well. So I would love to try this product- I bet it's much better and will actually remove the hair.

  10. Wow, I want to try this. I try to look healthy and put together, both of which help me access whatever inner beauty I have.

  11. Thanks for sharing!! I totally want to try this. I play up my eyes with eyeliner and mascara to bring out my inner beauty. After all, the eyes are the windows to the soul, right? And also, a dramatic eye detracts attention from my mustache.

  12. minimal make up and great facial cleanser/lotion help me bring out my inner beauty (less distractions, right?)

  13. my beauty routine is pretty simple, but the key part of it is straightening my hair. once i've done that, i just FEEL more confident, whether i'm wearing a drop of make-up or not. it's just a confidence booster that helps my inner beauty shine!

  14. My beauty routine is daubing on some sunscreen, powder & lip gloss as I get ready to educate and play with my kiddos…they bring out my inner beauty:)

  15. I use a moisturizer daily and wear some makeup and my hair is how I express my inner beauty

  16. I use microdermabrasion and chemical peel to keep fresh new skin showing. Clogged pores and dead skin cell flakes just aren't my idea of beauty!

  17. Getting rid of MY mustache (not to mention stray chin hairs) would be a thrill! Right now, the best thing I've found is plucking (hurts and takes way too long…and I always miss some) or shaving (which has to be done every day-and produces stubble). If I win, I'll be sprinting to get something like this!

Oh, and using a peel-off mask helps me clear away gunk and impurities from the pores. Feels wonderful.

  18. Wearing a wonderful scent, shinny lipgloss and brushing my skin at night before I get in the showing help me to express my inner beauty. Thanks for the information, I've been going to the threaders to get my girlmash removed but it is time consuming and can be costly. This sounds like a great alternative.

  19. I like to put on eyeliner to bring out the sparkle in my eyes otherwise people ask me if I'm feeling okay. And I love a little bit of perfumed body lotion to make myself feel pretty.

  20. My beauty routine involves taking good care of my skin so that I don't need to wear heavy makeup, which allows others to see my natural features & the real me

  21. Feeling good about the image I present to the world makes me more confident…and self-confidence is always beautiful.

  22. I too am very hirsute (I had to look it up). It wasn't for my hair removal regimen I wouldn't be able to go outside for anyone to see my inner beauty! Dear Olay, Please help! 😉

  23. Great to know it works so well. I'm gonna have to try this product! Simplicity inspires my inner beauty. I try to keep my beauty routine to very basic steps and it works well. This sounds like a wonderful product….my everyday routine always involves removing as much facial hair that I can and of course applying make up. I would so love to be entered to win ~ and to try this wonderful new product!!! xxoo, Dawn

  26. Thanks for the chance to win! I've been fighting this problem for a long while now too and would love to give this a try. My mustache may actually put yours to shame 🙂

My beauty routine is primarily minimalistic (light powder, a little eye shadow, and lip gloss) and all about staying healthy – the more intensive things I do revolve around staying on top of the hair growth!

  27. A warm smile is the best part of my beauty routine! It shows my students that I care. Mascara and lip gloss help my "visual learners" get it, LOL.

  28. To have a hair free face, use cleanser, moisturizer and wear simple basic makeup is my beauty routine that helps to express my inner beauty.

  30. I don't wear a lot of makeup but keep face clean and moisturized.. also shaving legs, etc…. and lots of body lotion helps me feel good!

  31. I am impressed with this product! Thank you for the post! I have an issue with hair also, and I usually shave, but I hate the stubble. I am going to get this product today and try it on the hair above my lip and on my chin. I work as a skin care specialist for a local dermatologist in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and if this product works as well as I see in this post , I will have LOTS of happy patients!! Thank you so much!!

  32. This sounds like an absolute god-send! I, too, have facial hair issues and this product sounds perfect. Even if I don't win the sweepstakes, I'm going to give it a try.

I don't have a complicated beauty routine, but I feel good about it. I think it shows my natural beauty (we all have it!) and makes me feel ready for the day. At night, I have to wash my face before bed. It's like washing all the cares of the day away.

  33. My inner beauty shows when I'm happy, much better than when I'm wearing makeup. No amount of makeup can cover up a bad attitude. I try to start each day with a good attitude and not carry emotional baggage everywhere I go.

  34. I like to use tinted moisturizer with sunscreen. Moisture, even skin tone, and sun protection in one step! That leaves me time to concentrate on the important things while still feeling more confident about my physical appearance.

  35. My inner beauty shines through with the small acts of service I do! But I also wear lotion and light make-up every day. Can't go with out my lipstick and mascara. (I've fought facial hair my whole life – even doing laser treatments, with some regrowth that I'm sure will be helped with this product.)

  36. I exfoliate daily to reveal fresh new skin. I also use Olay Regenerist Serum to fight these pesky wrinkles.

  37. Youare so very shameless and brave. I applaud you. I would love to try this! I have the same issues. My routine help me feel like the best me there is. That is very important to me.

  38. I have a routine that I have to do or I just don't feel good during the day. I love getting ready and putting make-up on. I live for my eye-makeup!

  39. To be perfectly honest, slapping on moisturizer (with SPF) and mascara as quickly as is humanly possible so I can get on with my life helps me express my inner beauty!

  40. The act of wearing makeup everyday makes me confident to face any situation. I am always told that I am genuine.

  41. I try to let my inner beauty shine by not covering myself with too much makeup, and also simplifying my accessories. When I look more natural, I feel more like my true self.

  42. I'm prone to crying – out of frustration and out of anger… so, if I'm in a situation where those tears would be misinterpretted as weakness or where I just need to keep it together – I wear mascara, not waterproof. Then my inner beauty (and strength) show through because of my beauty routine 🙂

  43. I don't know that I believe you.. but I'd be willing to try!
I read to my daughter every day, that helps me show my inner beauty.

  44. I like a simple look, I straighten my hair and use lots of lotion. Thanks for the review and giveaway!

  45. I never knew I had nice skin, so after receiving compliments I began to really paying attention to how I cleanse my skin and moisture it; that is part of who I am and makes me feel 'good!' PS: I have the same problem with upper lip hair and I was looking for an alternataive to the old chemical method; I tried the new Olay product and really found it to be gentle and effective. Now if we can only find a way to never have to do hair removal again, that would be great!!!

  46. I just let my naturalness shine through. I don't wear makeup, but I feel that a good hairstyle will make or break the way you look. It is a much simpler life to forgo makeup completely and my 13 year old daughter doesn't even want to wear it! Lead by example, has proven true in this for us!

  47. Wow! I'm definitely looking into that stuff! Light makeup allows my inner beauty to shine through. Especially in the afternoon when it's all gone! lol

  48. I finally found a beauty routine I like that is easy to do. makes me feel much better about my outer self 🙂

  49. My beauty routine is important to me because it makes me feel like I care about myself and that makes me care or and help others.

  50. Taking extra time before bed to use beauty products meant to help repair my skin overnight makes me feel my inner beauty. Natural looking (but still well-concealing) makeup also makes me feel my inner beauty.

  51. Wow. That stuff looks so cool! My inner beauty is expressed by the simplicity and ease of my beauty routine. Meaning, not many steps. This stuff would definitely fit in so I wouldn't have to worry about shaving my peach fuzz away!

  52. Can't go anywhere unless i have a little blush on the cheeks and a dab of lipstick….makes me feel ready to go! Would love to try the Olay!

  53. Having a husband who accepts me the way I am brings out my inner beauty. I am also hirsute and now only worry about removal of my facial hait. I would like to try this product.

  54. My beauty routine makes me feel comfortable in my skin, so that helps me express my inner beauty with confidence.

  55. The more lotion I apply, the younger I feel. The younger I feel, the more confident I am. The more confident I am, the nicer a person I can be. Does that make sense lol? kytah00@yahoo.com

  56. I express my inner beauty with my hair! My hair style can usually tell you what kind of day I'm having or how I'm feeling inside. A big fun up-do is a fierce day. A low simple bun is a demure day. And my hair down and wild is a crazy-out-of-my-way day!

  57. My daily beauty regimen consists of a kit for everything for your face and neck. It makes me feel good and therefore it makes my inner beauty shine.

  58. Well, the more I take care of myself (daily exercise and even just a coat or two of mascara before leaving the house), the better I feel and thus, the more my inner beauty comes out! When I am looking a mess, I kinda keep a low profile and don't really reach out to people.

    wolverina401 at gmail dot com

  59. I express my inner beauty through swimming 3 times a week which energizes me and keeps me fit.
    Thanks for the contest.

  60. My beauty routine reflects my inner beauty because I don’t use a lot of makeup to hide behind.

  61. I express my inner beauty thru my poetry, photography, and how I treat others around me! I don't wear makeup and the only beauty routine I have is to wash and moisturize my face and wear lip balm! LOL Nature is my inspiration for everything!

  62. I so need this! That is awesome! I too am fair skinned and dark hair (EVERYWHERE!) Thank you for posting!

  63. My beauty routine consists of me brushing the hair on my head and plucking the hair elsewhere. I feel normal.

  64. I enjoy taking care of myself and looking my best…helps me to feel better about life, but God's beauty is the most important thing that I want others to see through me! 🙂

  65. I try to be simple and uncomplicated, so my beauty routine is too. I'm basically a wash-and-go kind of girl, but I do try to take care of my skin.

  66. I don't like to wear too much makeup because I spent years wearing heavy makeup to blend in my extensive vitiligo.
